Only plumbers who are members of the Water Industry Approved Plumbers Scheme (WIAPS) have the ability and resources to do so.

Acorn Maintenance are WIAPS approved plumbers and as such we are qualified to carry out the following work and more. We can:

  • Freeze or squeeze the flow of water as required by United Utilities in order to install a new stop tap.
  • Provide a new external stop tap and chamber or replace an existing stop tap within a customer's boundary.
  • Assist with the Government's lead replacement scheme.
  • Attend to alterations or additions to your central heating system without the need to drain the whole system down.
  • Certify any work carried out to the relevant regulations under WIAPS

Stop Tap Replacement

Many plumbing issues require stopping the flow of water into your property via your internal stop tap. But what if your stop tap is faulty and needs replacing? Only WIAPS approved plumbers can access the external stop tap, which belongs to United Utilities, in order to carry out the necessary work.

There are lots of plumbers who will happily carry out work which they are not qualified to do.

As Acorn Maintenance are members of WIAPS, you can feel confident knowing that we have suitable training and experience, adequate knowledge of the Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 and sufficient public liability insurance cover. Beware of employing any plumber who cannot give you these assurances.
